“Lets go mountaineers”
I just wanted to let you know that I am very proud of you for working together as a team and getting to the Sweet 16! The Duke win was phenomenal (maybe better than beating Pitt). I am proud to say that I am part of this great Mountaineer family and honored to be an alumni from this great University. Thank you for the the hard work you do to achieve such great success because it shows every time you guys step onto the court. I will be cheering very loudly Thursday night and praying to God that he will lead us to the Elite 8. Good luck guys and “LET’S GO MOUNTAINEERS”

LET’S GOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!!
To take Tony Caridi’s statement a little farther ” IT’S A GREAT TIME TO BE A MOUNTAINEER!!!” Having followed Mountaineer sports since moving to WV 30 years ago this has to be the overall best era that WV sports teams have had concurrently in a very long time. Football, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Gymnastics, Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, the list goes on. This is truly a GREAT ERA to be a MOUNTAINEER!!! Let’s GO TEAMS!!! Keep up the Hard work!!!
PS This is not to forget our Spirit Squads(Cheerleaders and Dance Team) that cheer on our Athletes.
PSS I LOVE BEING A DYED IN THE WOOL MOUNTAINEER!!!

Congratulations to both the Me’s and Women’s basketball teams for advancing into the Swet 16!!!!! The world of college sports hardly ever looks at WVU and considers us as true competitors. But, you two teams are prving that there is much more to our teams, athletic programs, and scholastic programs than meets the eye. LET’S GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!
Thanks guys for representing this state and all of the fans who love you dearly. I am so proud to call myself a Mountaineer and you all are a big reason for that. God Bless.

Congrats to both of the teams! It’s so hard not actually being there to cheer you guys on this year as I’m usually always present! Girls, you all have done phenomenal this year and don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t the best, because we couldn’t have a better group of people to represent us in skill, as well as character.
Guys, You’ve pulled out some amazing things this year and that alone makes you the champs in my book. Keep up the good work, and never ever give up on what’s yours.
Rooting for all of you, Let’s Go Mountaineers!
Congratulations, Mountaineers! Keep working hard, and let’s make it to the Final Four!

Way to go EER’S. Show the country how we do it in West Virginia!!
First things first, you all make me proud to be a Mountaineer, what an amazing job you’ve done this year. Coach Huggins, I was very happy that you returned to WVU at the beginning of the season, but now, I am honored that you’ve come home. To all the BB Players, you all will always be the greatest players of the game no matter what. You chose the Mountaineer Nation as a family, and we will always love you. So Lets Go Mountaineers, Bring that Trophy Home on that Country Road.
Cograts to both teams!!! Also great job to Alex Ruoff and JB for representing the FLA
I cant say enough about our team. Goodluck to the boys and girls teams. Joe Alexander is one of the best players in the country right now. keep it up

“It IS a GREAT day to be a Mountaineer!!” I’m so proud of both basketball teams—men & women’s!!
Way to go, girls!! You represented WVU and WV well in a rough situation. We are proud of you!!
Go guys!! That win over Duke was nothing short of AWESOME!! I’ve always HATED Duke—so extra glad to see you beat them! NOW —get Xavier!! We’re behind you 100%—and so proud of what you’re doing for WVU and WV!
THANKS to ALL of you—and Coach Carey and Coach Huggs!!
You guys are letting everyone that did not believe in WVU, finally realize how wrong they were. I can wear my WV gear loud and proud while all the bandwagon Duke fans have nothing left to say. Lets Goooo Mountaineers!!!!
Congrats to both basketball teams – we are so very proud of you all! GO EERS!
GOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats to both the men’s and women’s team..Guys- you have played really hard this season and I wish you luck against Xavier! Girls- I love watching you play this year and im so glad to have come here. You had a great run and esp. enjoyed watching the seniors play. Good Luck with the rest of your time here at WVU!!!!
Don’t let all the limelight get to your head! Play smart! Good luck boys! We all love ya! And the entire state will be watching you guys!
Congratulations Mountaineers!! My son is an alumnus and I LOVE the Mountaineers!! Let’s go all the way! Good luck!!! I’ll be watching and cheering you on!
Congratulations to both the men and women’s teams. Ladies, you took a tough loss last night but still had a great season. Guys, good luck against Xavier. My favorite moment so far is a tie between Ruoff’s falling out of bounds three to tie Duke or Alexander’s two second half blocks against Duke.
Way to go boys. Remember your roles and play within your capabilities and I have no doubt you will rise from the west. We will be able to get any shot on O, but remember to slow down, read the D and exploit the miss-matches rather than settle for early shots. Keep playing D with active hands, intensity, and the general mind frame that we want it more than they do.
The heart displayed by our team is what being from West Virginia is all about. LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS!
You guys make us proud!! Keep playing your hearts out!!
It’s great to be a Mountaineer! We are all proud of you. Dr. N
Thank you! All of you make it easy for me!
I live in Maryland, and wear my WVU Mountaineer jacket everywhere!
Funny thing…....I was stopped the other day, and was asked:
When did WVU get so good?
Let’s show them just how good ‘good’ can be!
Continue the hard work and keep elevating your game because this combination is unstoppable. You make us proud every time you take the court and represent WVU!
LET’S GO MOUNTAINEERS!
Great Job! Let’s go WVU!
Good job and good luck the rest of the way! Keep playing hard. Let’s go Mountaineers!
Dear Coach Huggins and Team,
People in america are starting to notice you for very positive reasons. Mainly, in my opinion, you have steadily developed team chemistry and you also possess very important intangibles at this time of year:
1. Experience at the point guard position.
2. you play aggressive team defense(everyone is responsible for the ball)
3. you rebound(which means you get more possessions and limit your opponents)
4.your team chemistry(everyone understands their roles)
5.your competition has prepared you
6.nobody expects you to win and therefore you are playing with a chip on your shoulder!
So keep playing for the way your playing. The matchups are in our favor.Good luck!
Bill and Sandi Wagner
Fairmont
Great Job Team! Great Job Coach Huggs & Staff!
Stay on your feet on defense!
Joe, Alex, and Ted. Two years ago I met you in Atlanta for the Sweet 16 match up. I met you at Hooters. I was so impressed with you easiness in talking to a stranger, although I did have WVU apparel on. You have come so far, and although life doesn’t depend on a win this Thursday, it sure would be nice to watch you again on Saturday.
Best
Go Mountaineers! Good luck from the class of 1979!
It’s a great “year” to be a Mountaineer!
Thank you to both teams for making this an exciting few years to be a Mountaineer basketball fan! You guys and ladies rock! Good luck boys in the Sweet 16…and congrats to the gals for the great season!

We’ll be cheering for you here in Bridgeport WV. We’re very proud to have you as our team. Let’s Go Mountaineers!!!!!!!!!!
Guys, Thanks for making us proud! Who needs old Beilein or Rodriguez. Go Mountaineers. Ladies you looked great – next year we will go the distance!!
Congratulations to both teams for their success in the NCAA tournament. To the senior girls—-great job throughout your career at WVU. To Liz.. you have made the Upper Ohio Valley very proud that you represent us. To the men’s team… keep on doing what you do best and I’m sure you’ll continue to the Final four.
Ladies & Gents,
Thanks for all the hard work you put in year in and year out, it doesn’t go unnoticed. The dedication you’ve made to your respective program can be seen in the success of each basketball program this year. The way you represent the University and the state of West Virginia makes me proud to be a Mountaineer!
Ladies(Especially the Senior Class),
Ranked in the top 25 all year and making back-to-back NCAA Tourney’s, I think you’ve laid a solid foundation for a great women’s basketball program. Your accomplishments will not soon be forgot.
Men,
Congratulations on making it to the Sweet 16!!!! D-Nich, make this last run your best yet!!!! We’ll be pulling for you!! Let’s goooooooo Mountaineers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been awesome to watch you guys so far in the NCAA tourney. But the season isn’t over, and we are a good enough team to come out 2-0 in phoenix. Keep working hard and making everybody a believer in the blue and gold. Win or lose, you all have had a wonderful season. LETS GOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!!
BEAT XAVIER!!!!!!!
Congrats for making it this far and goodluck on Thursday. Xavier has nothing on the mountaineers!!!!
Congratulation on another great season! I am so proud of you. Having athletic programs that are regularly among the best in the nation is getting very commonplace at WVU. The way you play with pride, heart and skill makes my heart swell with pride everytime I see you play. To see players come from out of state but yet show so much love and support for the state of West Virginia and the people further shows your great character and loyalty. That is why we are loyal to you and support you with all our hearts. Best of luck! you make it “a great day to be a Mountaineer, wherever you may be” !!!!!!
Let’s Go Mountaineers !
Thanks for wearing that WVU uniform with pride and making all of us Mountaineer fans and the whole state proud. It truly is a pleasure to follow both of your teams.
My favorite tournement moment was the double overtime win over Wake Forest. The Mountaineers really fought as a team to get passed them and make a run to the elite eight. I hope the Mountaineers go all the way this year.
“It’s a great night to be a Mountaineer where ever you may be!”
Way to go mounties. I’m proud of ya’ls efforts and hard work this year. Way to rep for the greatest state in the country. It is nice as I am in Florida and can rub it in people’s faces that ya’ll is having such success and beating some powerhouse teams.
good luck in the sweet 16, play tough.
WVU men….pour it on, take it to ‘em….fear nothing, your skills, heart and leadership will prevail. You know what can happen when you put on that WVU uniform.
WVU ladies, Seniors, it has been a pleasure to watch you grow, and you have overcome many obsticals, and built a solid program, which you will long be known for building the foundtion for the womens program, you have been montors to the youth on the team, as well as for new recruits. I will miss watching you play….but i will always remember your contributions, hard work, never quit attitude. To the underclassmen, please play with the spirt and intensity your seniors have left you with…take the knowledge and foundation afforded to you and take the WVU womens program to new heights…do it for all who have wore the gold and blue before you!
Good luck at the Sweet 16 Game. Whatever happens in Phoenix, Keep your heads held high. Stand Tall always, the fans will always stand beside you. I absolutely loved the Duke game. When I found out you would be playing my favorite ACC Team, I had mixed emotions. But I will never waiver from the Gold and Blue. I knew you could beat them and I’m glad you didn’t let the name on the Jersey, Pysch you out. Way 2 go.
And congradulations to the Womens team. Thanks for making our state look good. You girls had a wonderful season.
It is a great time to be a Mountaineer
Congratulations Mountaineers! I’m cheering you on as I study abroad overseas!!!
Let’s gooo Mountaineers!
Show everyone what the blue and gold is all about! Xavier, UCLA, all of those teams, they ain’t know Morgantown!!!
Great job to both Men’s and Women’s bb teams! The Duke game was one to watch again and again for the tenacity and motivation that you showed. You work as a team, and it’s great to see. I don’t think there is a single person in the state of WV who won’t be watching tomorrow night when you play Xavier – and each and every one will be cheering you on! Great job, Coach Huggins, with making this a team to be reckoned with! You’ve given them a drive and no nonsense attitude that helps them kick it up a notch!
Let’s go Mountaineers!
Cheers, Beers, Mountaineers!!
MEN’S BASKETBALL…
KEEP ON TRUCKING FORWARD AND BRING HOME THAT NATIONAL TITLE.. I AM SO SICK OF EVERYONE SAYING THAT WVU IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. I KNOW YOU GUYS ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO GO ALL THE WAY. DON’T SETTLE FOR ALMOST WINNING THE NATIONAL TITLE, GO OUT AND TAKE WHAT IS YOURS AND SHUT THE MOUTHS OF ALL THE CRITICS.
SEMPER FI!!!!!!!!!
If we can beat Duke than we can beat Xzavier
GO EERS’!
Destroy Xavier and their coach, who is Pitt alumni Sean Miller. Only another reason to SEEK AND DESTROY!
We can beat Xavier no problem just don’t look past them. We beat UCLA two years in a row and if you guys make it 3 it will be huge because a final 4 birth will be enough to make up for any heartache after football season. Good Luck.
Hey, guys! You really make me feel proud of being a Mountainner and had you as my best students in my Spanish classes (Ruof, Wellington, Ted & Megan). I’ll never forget these games… Let’s go Mountainnners!!!
Great job guys!! Living in ACC land in North Carolina, you have given me alot of bragging rights!! Keep winning and bring home a championship to “the greatest state in the nation!!” Proud to be a Mountaineer!!!

Many thanks to the men’s basketball team..you make us very proud :)
It has been a blast watching both teams play!
Thank you women, especially the seniors for a great season. I am very proud of you and although I know you are disappointed, don’t let that take away the hard work and great games that you played this year.
To the Men-It was so very exciting to watch you play in the NCAA Tournament. You were definitely the better team in the game against Duke. You played as a TEAM, when one person had difficulty or was targeted by Duke, someone else stepped up…so unselfish and so very cool. Keep it up and keep it going! Show that determination on Thursday night against Xavier! Play your hearts out and listen to the Coach..he knows what he is doing!
ted talkington good luck at med school you are a great player and enjoyed seeing you when you played
Congratulations to the Mountaineer men’s and women’s teams. The seven seniors on the women’s team can hold their heads up high because they played great throughout the season, they represented themselves, the university and the state well and have to be the best senior class in WVU history. The men’s team showed the country that they will not back down from anybody and they will beat anybody anywhere at anytime.
All of the Mountaineers have made us proud!
I have to say that you guys absolutely rock my socks off. Cheering for you guys in person and at my television has made me feel like part of the team. You guys have made my senior year at WVU great. Thank you so much for all the great memories :) My mom loves Smalligan (thought you should know). I will be cheering my brains out on Thursday. I know you guys have the desire, hunger, strength, scrapiness (might I add), but most importantly you guys have the heart to beat any team you come against. Let’s kick some butt and take some names! Let’s GOOOOOOO Mountaineers!!!!!!!

Congratulations Yinka on been named a national finalist for the 2008 State Farm Coaches? All-America Basketball Team. Thanks for taking a picture with I and my friend a couple of weeks ago. Coach Mike Carey you are definitely one of the best coaches in the Big East. I have enjoy watching you lead your team to greatness. I am proud to say I cheer for the Lady Mountaineers!! You make us proud to display your poster in my office(Women’s Studies).

Heading out to watch the game with 30 Mounties…Make us all proud and we’ll see you in the Elite 8!
I Love being part of The West Virginia University Family. Let’s Go Mountaineers!! You can do it!! WVUMTMAN
Way to go, Mountaineers! We are very proud of you!
Men! You have nothing to be ashamed of…I am so proud of you and your determination and effort that you put forward tonight….it was so exciting. Coach, Huggins-you are a great diagnostician in the way that you can make adjustments and analyze. Congratulations on a wonderful season.
Boys, you are amazing. you had one of the best seasons this year, that was not even expected of you. I am so proud of each and everyone of you, you really stepped up this season and grew so much as a team. Your hard work and dedication is what truly drove this team. You boys are the best and i know we are all so proud of each and everyone of you no matter what. Congrats on a great season, you make being a mountaineer that much more exciting.
Guys you have nothing to be ashamed of tonight. I am so proud of the teamwork that you guys showed throughout the season and during the NCAA tourney. You exceeded beyond what the critiques thought you could do this year. I am still proud to be a Mountaineer and will always support the old gold and blue whether we win or lose. Darris, Jamie, and Ted good luck in the next phase of your life and may you have continued success like you have at WVU. Coach Huggins you have breathed life back into this program and we appreciate the loyalty that you have towards not only this great University, but to the state and the people of Mountaineer nation. It is a great day to be a MOUNTAINEER wherever you may be!!! Thanks for the memories guys….
Congratulations to both basketball teams for a great season, you have proven exactly why we are proud to be Mountaineer fans, through and through!!! To the men’s team, you guys are amazing to watch, both on and off the court. I have said now for quite a while that the thing I love the best about you is that regardless of how it is portrayed in the media or elsewhere, every game is a team game, win or lose. A win wasn’t just because of one players shot and a loss wasn’t based on one players miss. You worked together as a team and it was awsome to watch you do it. Good luck in the future to Darris, Jamie, and Ted, in everything you do. You all only deserve the best in all you do.
PS. Congratulations to Coach Huggins and his staff on a great first year, I am sure if this year was any indication we will continue to be a force to be reckoned with just as we were this year. And make no mistake we are definitely a force!!
What a great run in the tournaments!
I feel like we won the game against Xavier! You guys put heart & soul into your play & gave us an exciting game!

Great job boys. You looked great and deserved better. By my count Duncan fouled out about 3 times and not one correct call. Can’t wait until next season. Coach Huggins…I have always been a huge fan of yours and I am so happy that you came back home. West Virginia has the best fans and people and players in the nation. Pennsylvania is always on your side. Once again great job!
You played a hard, agressive game against Xavier.
It was exciting to watch your teamwork. Great looks, great passing, great heart, great run. Thanks.
I am so very proud of you guys and ladies! Who would have thought we would have had such successful seasons. Coach Huggins – keep up the good work. And guys, we’ll be anxiously waiting to do it all over again next year. I will miss your entertainment until next season! Oh, and Joe A. – my daughter would LOVE to meet you, but I am sure that list is very long!
Congratulations on two wonderful seasons. You both have given the university and state a lot to be proud of. You far exceeded many people?s expectations and have proven to be class acts in the process. Thank you! Let’s Go Mountaineers!!
I am so happy for you all, regardless of the outcome of the game. You all (men and women) are tops in my bracket! Think of all the teams who didn’t get to “dance” any at all!
Great seasons for both the Men and Women Mountaineer Basketball teams . . . I know that even greater things are going to happen for both teams next year.
Don’t fret about what happened in your last games in the NCAA Tournaments – both teams have my respect and the whole State of West Virginia I am sure.
Good Luck to Jamie, Ted and Darus and, also, to the seven seniors on the Women’s team as well.
Thanks for the memories!!
Had a great time watching the games. Looking forward to next year.
My kids love Joe!!!!

Darris, you are a wonderful person and I am happy to have had the opportunity to watch you become such a strong leader both on and off the playing court.(all the kids at camp have so much fun)
Joe AL., Alex, Zullo, Jonnie, Wel, & Da’Sean,(and the team) you guys are the best. Thanks for giving the fans something to cheer about and such excitement to watch.Looking forward to next season.
Luv ya guys.
God Bless.
I’ve raised my kids in the heart of SEC/ACC country to be WVU fans. There is no question that WVU’s football and basketball programs have given them a lot of reasons to be proud lately. Have you guys ever stopped to think about the out of conference teams you’ve beaten over the past four years? Wake Forest, NC State, Florida, Auburn, Mississippi State, Clemson, UCLA, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas Tech and Duke! Wow!
When we lost to Louisville in the Elite 8, that was crushing because I didn’t know if we’d ever get that close to the Final Four again. The feeling that I have about you guys is that we’re going to be a legitimate threat to get there next year and beyond. Be good and work hard!
thank seniors for some great years and thank you everyone on the team you have did our state proud and represented us with class!!!!
i am a mountaineer till the day i die, and probably for a couple weeks after that. i was made more sure of that this season. Darris, you are a player i will tell my kids about. i have seen you play live about 15 times, despite the fact i have yet to see a game in morgantown, and you definitly belong up there with gansey, pittsnogle, collins, sally, fishcer, beilein, yound, and herber. you are a winner. jaime thanks for all your hard work and team play. even when you struggled you fought through and made the uniform proud. meg, sanni, laquita, and all the other seniors – you girls are great. thanks for making sure EVERY team at wvu lives up to the standard the rest of the country seems to be unable to recognize. next year boys, next year. joe – come back. the nba sucks and so does its lifestyle. youre money will come. joe, joe, alex, desaun, wellington, john, cam, will, KEVIN JONES – final four baby. i love you guys. i love the state and i love the school. WEST BY GOD.
Always a joy to watch the Mountaineers on tv. Congratulations for making it this far. You all done well. And congratulations especially to Coach Huggins for the leadership and guidance. Keep it up!
Congrats gentlemen on another great year. I know it may be difficult right now to cope with such a close defeat, but you guys brought a great amount of joy, pride, and hope to the thousands that call themselves mountaineers. I am always proud to wear the old gold and blue whenever I hed back home to NJ because of the class, hard work, and winning attitude that this team portrays on a daily basis. To the seniors – hey, it’s been fun, good luck in all you do in life; and to the returners – I think you guys are going to be a national power next year and I can’t wait to see you all on the floor next year!!
LET’S GO!

So proud to be a Mountaineer fan. It’s great to be able to see so many WVU athetics games on the TV now, even living in ACC and SEC country. The Huge “flying WV” I have on my truck is recognized by all thanks to the continued success of our programs. Keep working hard and showing the determination and never say die attitude that the entire state loves you for. Being a Native West Virginian and die hard fan is in my blood and you (Men’s and Women’s basketball) will always have my support. We love you!!!!!!!!
I really hope you guys win!
Great season for both the Men’s basketball and Women’s basketball teams. Hey and you have quite a number of fans here in North Carolina too. Congratulations and wishing even greater success. Go Mountaineeers!
First Congrats to the Women’s and Men’s Teams, very proud of both of them. I’d like to commend Bob Huggins in his first year, he took the team to the Sweet Sixteen, not saying it was hard but usually in your first year its hard to get anything going but Bob did a great job with this team. I’m looking forward to next year! Hats off to Nichols, Smalligan, and Talkington for their dedication! WAY TO BEAT DUKE!
I really do not follow the Women’s team a whole lot but the tournaments for them i do. The Women’s basketball team has been a awesome looking team since last year! I was a little uneasy about the New Mexico game but they did a great job. Good Luck to the Seniors on this team! Great Job Mike Carey!
Sincerely,
A DIEHARD BLEEDS BLUE AND GOLD MOUNTAINEER FAN
LET’S GO MOUNTAINEERS
As TC would say, “It is a GREAT night to be a MOUNTAINEER fan wherever you may be.”
There are few things as exciting as watching college basketball-for me.
Thank you ALL for a wonderful season of basketball.
Well done!
Happy to be a Mountaineer along side of our outstanding teams and the
loyal fans.
To BOTH Teams!
I wanted to say Congratulations to you on your amazing runs in your tourneys. You not only lived up to the HYPE you have also lived up to the expectations and you lived up to the right to be called MOUNTAINEERS! You played agressive and you played with heart and when the chips were down you neve quit and that is the symbol of being a MOUNTAINEER! TO THE SENIORS…. Thank you for an amazing 4 years you will leave us but, you will never be forgotten and even though you are from different states you will ALWAYS be Mountaineers and you will have each and every fan along with you.
Congrats on yet another year of proving the critics wrong! Many “experts” said that we were going to have a down year due to the coaching change and finish 10th in the Big East. You guys proved them wrong by making an exciting run into the Sweet 16 and finishing as one of the top Big East teams!
Thanks for the great year and good luck for next year!
just wanted to say thank you for the great job this season. coach huggins you once again proved your brillance!
It is a great day to be a Mountaineer! Both teams represented themselves and the University extremely well. It is a pleasure to watch these youn men and women give their all on the court and be humble – win or loose.

Dr. Rice
I’ve been living in Maine for the last 20 years, and watching you guys play ball has always filled my heart that longs to come back to WVU. I haven’t been back since I moved here, but I still feel connected to WVU when I watch. I’ve enjoyed every game this season, and you guys have awesome teamwork, and play really great basketball.. I am proud to be a Mountaineer, and very proud of your accomplishments.
ps.. I hate treadmills… They must require intense focus to keep from going insane when you run on them… What a motivator, to stay off of it… Coach must have a very twisted mind.. ( just kidding)
I played ball 30 years ago for the Mountaineers. That experience shaped my entire being. It will you too. Way to never give up and to give it all you’ve got. You’ll never forget your time representing our great university, its students and alumni. Thanks for the excitement.
